Sanky Sankar the founder of the Keeth House, said that while interacting with the travellers coming to Auroville, gradually he started to host them and eventually opened his home to the travellers to experience the nature in Auroville.
In one of the pieces he has written for his website, He said, “Keeth House is a beautiful dream which stemmed out of all the little things that I love. What started as a personal project for me and my family, slowly became a cottage to host guests in 2019.”
He meant that neither the Keeth House is like a regular hotel nor is he like other founders and property owners.
The Layout, Phases & Surrounding
Keeth House is stretched to kilometres and divided into phases, further, every phase has some houses with different layouts. Located in deep woods, nearer to the beach and closer to Pondicherry, Keeth House is the best shelter to witness nature. With a peaceful atmosphere, visitors can experience the blend of French culture and traditional South Indian living style. Being situated deep in the woods, guests
can also interact with diverse species of animals and birds (not the wild ones). With different layout structures, every house is built uniquely to give a distinct feeling to the guests. Let’s look at the built layout of the Keeth House:
Keeth House, Phase I
Among all the phases built inside the Keeth House, phase I is the calm and cosy stay area consisting of three houses; Keeth House I, Keeth House II and Keeth House III. Keeth House Phase I is comparatively more economical than other phases because here one can stay in the group.
The Keeth House I in phase I is built more in the traditional way of old Tamil Nadu houses. It is a level of cottage, ideal for the stay of family and friends. The other house in phase I is octagonal and consists of multifunctions, more than just being a weekend gateway one can stay longer here with their acquainted. The third house built is for romantic pairs and is more picturesque than other houses.
Keeth House, Phase II
The distance between Keeth House Phase I and II is approximately 2-3 km, phase II has four different properties in it. Phase II is the flagship property which consists of Keeth House IV, Keeth House V, Keeth House VI and Khaya Nest. All the houses built in Phase II are built in the form of cottages with high ceilings.
Keeth House IV with a high thatched roof is full of a serene and cool environment, and an ideal stay for couples. Whereas Keeth House V gives a luxurious stay with a bathtub and open shower, it is also spacious with ample sitting space.
Set with the outside pond, this house can add abundant fun to the pool parties, while the house is built with a rustic touch.
Khaya Nest is a tree house made in the shape of a nest on a Mahagony tree. 10 metres above the ground, Khaya Nest connects people with nature at its best.
Feedback
The visitors who have been to the Keeth House recommend it as the best place to rejuvenate from a monotonous routine. The property is neat and clean, food is also cheaper. The houses do not have air conditioners as the weather is moderate here. One shortcoming of Keeth House being located in the woods is regular visits of insects and amphibians like frogs. A dog in a neighbourhood can be the best entertainer for the guests, also the hosts are very well-behaved and look after every need of the guests.
The famous restaurants and cafes are also near to the Keeth House which one can reach by auto or cab. As the properties reside in the woods, there are high chances to get stunk by spiders or bees, hence they also take the blood samples of the guests in order to arrange the best medical facilities during emergencies.

Located inside the woods and closer to the dense nature, people who are going to and wish to visit properties of the Keeth House should remember the following pointers to enjoy the nature fullest:
- One should bring their own shampoo & soaps as they provide natural ones which might not suit your body and hair.
- One should keep a first aid box with them as insects (; bees or spiders) can stung in
- As the weather is moderate, and the property is surrounded by trees, bring your cotton and lightweight clothes.
